SCHOLAR ATHLETE: A Wrestler’s Gift for Music

Greg Hurd ’10 is known around campus for his feats on the wrestling mat, but he also plays piano, guitar, bass, and cello?and sings. Both his father (Douglas ’76) and uncle (Michael ’72) were all–New England Wesleyan wrestlers, so his choice of sport might seem preordained, but Greg says he was not pressured. This year he went 16–0 at 174 pounds in dual matches, placed second at the New England Wrestling Association Championships, and was chosen as one of four at–large selections for the NCAA Division III meet. His cumulative record for the year was 35–6. He is majoring in earth and environmental sciences.
