AT THE CENTER FOR THE ARTS THEATER: FIST AND HEEL

Reggie Wilson/Fist and Heel Performance Group presented the Connecticut premiere of Citizen in the Center for the Arts Theater on Feb. 9, 2018. Citizen—here photographed during the dress rehearsal—questions what it means to belong and what it means to not want to belong. The work was inspired by the histories of iconic African Americans who faced contradictions surrounding individuality, anonymity, freedom, and dignity in performing their civic duties. Through a series of intricately woven solos layered with haunting footage, a provocative dialogue emerges.
